What Is Market Samurai?

To say that Market Samurai is just a keyword tool is missing the point. It actually collects together 8 tools (with a 9th currently under development) in one application.

Rank Tracker

Market Samurai’s Rank Tracker module does exactly what it says on the tin: tracks the rank of your site’s pages so that you can see whether your SEO efforts are paying off or not.

There is no limit to the number of domains you can monitor, or to the number of keywords. Data is collected from Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Search Engine Ranking Positions (SERPs), PageRank (PR), and backlinks are displayed in a table, and you can also view graphs of how these have changed over time.

SEO Competition

This module is one of the most useful Market Samurai has to offer.

It gives you a list of the first page results in Google for your chosen keyword. Alongside the websites it gives you information on their PageRank, backlink counts, domain age, and important on-site SEO characteristics such as whether the site has the keyword in the title, the URL, the meta description tag, etc.

You can drill down into the results to see exactly where a site gets its backlinks from, and the PageRank and anchor text of those backlinks.

This module is incredibly useful. It allows you to guage how competitive a market is – and how easy it’s going to be to get the #1 spot in Google. And more importantly, it lets you spy on exactly what your top-ranking competitors are doing and where they’re backlinks are from, so you can easily beat them!

Monetization

To be honest, this isn’t a module I’ve used very much, as I tend to know what I want to promote before I start. However, it could be very useful for anyone who isn’t sure what would best complement their niche.

It allows you to search some of the largest affiliate networks – PayDotCom, Clickbank, Commission Junction, and Amazon – by keyword, language, category, and commission percentage.

Publish Content

Market Samurai’s Publish Content module allows you to write blog posts and upload them to your WordPress blog from within Market Samurai. There’s a fully featured text editor, and you get all the usual options of creating a post or a page, publishing the content immediately or at a later date, etc.

It offers nothing you can’t do from within your blog admin, of course, but it can be very useful doing everything from the same program. You can go from keyword research to finding content to writing an article and publishing it to your blog without ever changing window!

Keyword Research

This is one of the modules you’ll find yourself using the most. It gets its results from Google, so you can be confident of their accuracy, but it makes generating and analysing keywords so much easier than just going straight to Google.

It gives you a wealth of information (mouse-over for a detailed explanation), and you can filter keywords by all of it:

Domains

This is a relatively new module in Market Samurai, and a very welcome one. Most internet marketers know the value of domains: a nice keyword-rich domain can give you first page on Google all by itself, and aged domains make SEO even easier. The Domains Module makes these domains much quicker and easier to find, giving you more time to spend on the important things.

Find Content

This searches many of the biggest article directories, blogs, and news sites, along with Flickr and YouTube.

It brings back a list of articles and videos related to your keywords, along with information such as backlinks, PR, keyword density, publication date, and how many copies there are on the internet.

This allows you to quickly find relatively unknown content and repurpose it for your own websites. Content writing is one of the most time-consuming tasks in internet marketing, so this tool is extremely welcome.

Promotion

The Promotion Module gives you a list of sites to get backlinks from. It finds blogs and forums related to your keyword, along with Web 2.0 sites such as Squidoo and Hubpages.

For each page it shows PR, backlinks, whether the links are dofollow, and if the site uses pingbacks.

Backlinks are the most crucial part of SEO these days, and being able to find quality backlinks from within Market Samurai is an excellent feature.
